OUR HISTORY
For over 30 years, the Dayseaday Group has been a leading trader of fresh and frozen fish products. Since our founding in 1986, our business has grown rapidly and our workforce has expanded from 5 to 120. This success is the result of autonomous growth and targeted mergers and acquisitions both in the Netherlands and abroad.
We have top-quality modern equipment and facilities at our disposal for the processing and storage of fish products. We are based in Urk, a town that is the fishing centre of Europe with by far the largest fishing fleet and fish processing industry in the Netherlands.
1987 – Our founding
In 1987, the three brothers Jelle, Henk and Paulus established the business VOF Gebroeders van Veen at the address Stortemelk 4D in Urk. The business employed five staff and functioned as a filleting company for third parties. When its activities expanded to Belgium, the company underwent substantial growth.
1990 - Inschot
The fuse for Dayseaday's rapid growth had been lit. In 1990, the company moved to new premises on Inschot Street, although in just five years, the company had outgrown this location too!
1992 – Dayseaday name adopted
In 1992, Henk and Jelle took over an existing firm based in Harlingen and their company has been called Dayseaday ever since. The name used to refer to a flower, but now it stands for 'daily fresh fish from the sea'.
1995 - Schulpengat
Dayseaday continued to develop, grow and build. In 1995, it commissioned the construction of a new site on Schulpengat Street. The build was completed in three stages, creating a total floor area of 2,000m2.
2012 – Romania
In 2012, Dayseaday expanded beyond the Dutch borders by taking over the Romania-based company Oceanis Seafood. 'We have a wonderful manager there, a young Romanian who speaks many languages', explains Jelle.
2015 - Bonesca
At the start of 2015, Bonesca Import and Export was acquired and brought into the Dayseaday Group.
2016 – New premises
The company continued its expansion and on 17 December 2016, a new site was opened, boosting Dayseaday's total storage capacity to 9,600 pallets.
2017 - Muijs Seafood
'This sea fish wholesale firm is very interesting to us given its position as a supplier to small businesses and street traders', said Jelle van Veen following the takeover.
2018 - Gebr. Post > Marinus
Under the brand name Marinus Enterprises, Gebr. Post is a major player in the American frozen fish market, specialising in tongue, plaice and turbot. Dayseaday's acquisition of this company gave us a route into the American market.
2021 - Dayseaday Production
On 1 January 2021, Dayseaday Productie B.V. became the newest business in the Dayseaday Group. Our acquisition of a site on Vliesstroom Street in Urk has enabled us to build a modern salmon processing factory here.
